It is essential that our pupils know and understand that respect is shown to everyone regardless. We develop this through:
Jigsaw PSHE curriculum: Children are encouraged to discuss and respect differences between people, such as differences of faith, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexuality and differences of family situations.
Jigsaw RE: Children follow an enquiry based, comprehensive Religious Education curriculum programme in which all major religions and world views are included.
Collective Worship: Whole school and class based assemblies are timetabled and planned for the academic year. Assemblies include; Religious festivals, Votes for Schools, and weeks that raise awareness on issues that are relevant to children at Holbrook eg International Education week.
Links to local faith communities and places of worship: As part of our wider opportunities Holbrook Primary plan visits to religious buildings and invite local faith leaders to school.
Challenging discrimination and prejudice: Through our curriculum including PSHE, RE, Votes for Schools, behaviour policy and collective worship we support children to understand protective characteristics and implement this in daily life.
Charity Event: Children participate in planned charity events to raise awareness on issues affecting children locally and internationally.
Role Models: Role models of staff, school council, ambassadors and librarians promote positive attitudes and good behaviour, developing knowledge of social conventions and the ability to make decisions about right and wrong.
