At Holbrook we support the development of Democracy at Holbrook Primary through the following:
School Council: Representatives from each class from Y1-Y6 meet weekly to discuss concerns from their peers, plan school events and implement change
Class Council: School councillors feedback to their class issues that are raised at council and vote on a variety of topics.
Votes for Schools: A weekly current affairs platform, which supports children’s engagement in discussions on challenging topical issues, empowering them to have their voices heard by voting and commenting on a key question relating to political and social issues.
Pupil questionnaires and Pupil Voice: Children are consulted at various points throughout the year to share their opinions and knowledge
BEST respect: Children vote for the child in their class who has demonstrated Holbrook BEST values, this child is presented a certificate in BEST assembly by one of their peers.
Eco Team: The team meet regularly to work on projects to improve the school environment and sustainability.
Mental Health Ambassadors: The team meet regularly to discuss mental health issues and vote on topical events.
Language Ambassadors: The children support newly arrived children who are new to English.
